The bedroom is probably the only place in your home that you can use when you want to get away from everything for a couple of hours and just relax. It will also be your primary choice of place when you want to take a nap, read a book or watch TV. This makes the bedroom a personal place which is very important to keep in mind when designing it or when choosing stuff to upgrade it with. There are of course a couple of things to keep in mind when doing that. You need to make sure that whatever it is that you are going to put in your bedroom won’t disrupt you in any way or cause you discomfort because after all this is the place you use for resting.

But just because your bed has to look pretty doesn’t mean you can’t put your bed to use! Multi-functional storage setups are so in fashion. And having some extra storage space is always useful, right? So, here are 5 cute DIY wooden headboard with shelves ideas.

Storage Headboard

Create a one-of-a-kind headboard with built-in storage using old dresser drawers. Search salvage shops and secondhand stores for cast-off drawers and old dressers. Plan your layout on the floor, using fillers such as storage cubes and leaving spaces where the wall can show through. Once you’ve perfected your design, screw the pieces together. We also cut plywood doors to fit a few openings and secured them with hinges. To embellish your headboard, give it a few coats of paint, and wallpaper the drawer backs and doors. Hang the headboard on the wall using a few 1×4-inch cleats.

DIY Modular Headboard

This is a really simple, modular headboard I made to complete the modular bed that I built for my son a few months ago. You could make this with some pretty basic woodworking tools and skills. The whole thing is made from plywood and you really don’t need anything more than a table saw (or circular saw) and a drill to complete this project.

Custom Wooden Headboard with Shelf

This is a simple wooden headboard built for under $50. It is simple enough that the average DIYer should be able to build it without a problem.
